Secure Techie ("we", "us", "our") is operated by Dewiride Technologies Private Limited, a company registered in India. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit secure-techie.com, why we collect it, and what control you have over it.

The short version​

• We do not require an account, and we do not ask you to submit personal information to read anything on this site.
• We use Dewiride Analytics, our own cookieless analytics software that we host ourselves, and Google Analytics to understand which articles are useful. Google Analytics has IP anonymisation enabled.
• We show advertising from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads. You can turn off personalised ads at any time.
• If you email us a scam report, we redact personal details before publishing anything.
• We never sell your personal information.

Information we collect​

Information you choose to send us​

If you report a scam or contact us at security@dewiride.com, we receive whatever you include — typically the suspicious email, its headers, and your message. We use it only to analyse the threat and, where useful, publish an awareness article.

Before publishing, we remove personal details such as your name, email address, phone number, and any account or transaction identifiers belonging to you or other victims. If you would like to be credited on our Top Contributors page, tell us — otherwise reports are treated as anonymous.

Information collected automatically​

Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard technical data when a page is requested: IP address, browser type and version, device type, referring page, and timestamp. This is used for security, abuse prevention, and diagnosing errors.

This site stores a small amount of data in your browser's localStorage — not on our servers — to remember your preferences:

Advertising​

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Advertising revenue helps keep this site free and independent.

Our position on the ads we show​

Every advertisement on this site is clearly labelled Advertisement and visually separated from our articles. We deliberately do not use ad formats that imitate the appearance of our own content.

Advertisements are selected and served by Google, not by us. We do not review, verify, or endorse advertisers. Given the subject matter of this site, we ask you to apply the same scepticism to any advertisement that we ask you to apply to any unexpected offer: verify independently before you click, pay, or share information.

Analytics​

We use two analytics services to measure which articles people find useful and where our visitors come from. We use both only in aggregate — we do not attempt to identify individual visitors, and we do not combine analytics data with anything you send us by email.

Dewiride Analytics​

Dewiride Analytics is our own open-source analytics software, which we run on our own server at analytics.dewiride.com. Because we host it ourselves, this measurement data is never handed to a third party — it stays on infrastructure we operate, and it is not sold, rented, or used for advertising. The source is published at github.com/Dewiride-Open-Source/Dewiride-Analytics.

It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser — no cookies, no local storage, no session storage. For the pages you visit it records:

It never records what you typed, where on the screen you pressed, or the contents of any form.

Your IP address is used to work out an approximate country, town, and network operator, and is then erased 72 hours after collection by an automatic rule in the database. The town is an estimate, and is described as one.

To recognise a returning reader within a single day, we derive a key from your IP address and browser using a random value that is replaced every day. This is deliberate: it means the same reader cannot be linked from one day to the next, and it is why our figures count daily visitors rather than unique people over time.

Measurement records are deleted automatically 12 months after collection.

If JavaScript is turned off in your browser, a single 1×1 pixel image (analytics.dewiride.com/collect/pixel.gif) records the page view instead.

If you would rather not be measured, blocking analytics.dewiride.com in your browser, an extension, or on your network will stop it completely, and will not affect how this site works.

Google Analytics​

We use Google Analytics 4 for the same purpose. IP anonymisation is enabled, so your full IP address is not stored by Google Analytics.

You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control​

Some browsers can send a Do Not Track (DNT) header, or a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, to tell a site you do not wish to be tracked. There is no common industry standard for how a site must respond to DNT.

Dewiride Analytics does not currently act on either signal. To stop it collecting anything, block analytics.dewiride.com as described above — that works regardless of what your browser signals.

Google Analytics and Google AdSense respond to these signals according to Google's own policies, which we do not control. The opt-out links in the Advertising section above remain the reliable way to limit personalised advertising.

How we use information​

We use the information described above to:

• publish scam analyses and security awareness content;
• understand which content is useful and improve it;
• keep the site secure and prevent abuse;
• display advertising that funds the site;
• respond to messages you send us.

Legal bases for processing​

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on:

• Consent — for advertising and analytics cookies, and for publishing a scam report you send us.
• Legitimate interests — for security logging, abuse prevention, keeping the site running, and cookieless aggregate measurement through Dewiride Analytics.

Sharing your information​

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with data brokers.

Retention​

Scam reports sent to us by email are retained for as long as the related article remains published, so that we can verify or correct it. Google Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' standard retention settings. In Dewiride Analytics, IP addresses are erased 72 hours after collection and measurement records are deleted 12 months after collection, both automatically. Server logs are retained for a short period for security purposes.

Your rights​

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information, to object to processing, to request portability, and to withdraw consent.

• India — rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
• EEA / UK — rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
• California — rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know and to delete. We do not sell personal information.

To exercise any of these, email security@dewiride.com. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.

Children​

This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Links and reproduced content​

Our articles reproduce real scam and phishing messages for educational purposes. These reproductions may contain malicious links, phone numbers, and email addresses. They are shown so you can recognise them — never visit, call, reply to, or download anything from them.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of any external site, including sites reached through advertisements.

International transfers​

We are based in India, and our service providers may process data in other countries, including the United States. Where required, these transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Security​

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information in our care, including HTTPS across the entire site. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy​

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
